The only way to go.

PK, and where, pray tell, is the helmet?

i think all those car choices aren't that great. GM is going in the hole because they make crappy-ass cars. you need to go with toyota or subaru (mainly because I own a subaru and the thing is a beast, plus it looks awesome). jap cars are the best, no doubt.

or you can just pimp your bike:

Do not get a Chrysler. Since Mercedes bought them, the quality has gone into the toilet. (By the same token, don't get a Mercedes...they've been cost-cutting all over the place. High-priced crap, now).

Seriously?; Chrysler has been purchased by Mercedes? No WONDER that car looks like a Mercedes. I live in upstate NY. I see them a lot.

Rick

PS Oh and I've read that Jaguar was purchased by FORD. That ought to be real interesting.

Okay, let's close this puppy down. I'm grading on a curve, so the highest (Panasonic HVX200) and lowest (Scion xB) are out. That essentially results in a tie between the Chrysler 300C and the Chevy Tahoe.

I drive a suburban, so I am totally onboard with the Tahoe. But there's something about that 300C that appeals to me.

So I'm gonna ask Disjecta to cast the tie-breaking vote. After all, who better to have that honor than the guy who's gonna write the check?

C'mon baby, go vote.

No way dude... German all the way.

But on this list, I'd take the Tahoe, fitted out with 22's, and a dvd system with dual headrest monitors (for viewing dailies, of course).

I have seen some mean looking 300's though. The interior just seems somewhat cheap to me though for some reason. Might've just been the one I saw. Seemed "plasticy".

I just voted.

Hope you wanted the Tahoe.
Damn it, Pookie. :(

I waited as long as I could for your vote. I could tell you were struggling to decide, that you had my best interests at heart. But it's too little, too late. Disjecta made the call.

Thanks anyway.

Well Dallas, I know you were just toying with me with your interest in the Yugo.:(

Oh well, more for the rest of us.

Oh...I was serious about avoiding Chrysler. Very, very serious. MB has been losing money, and sucking it out of Chrysler to try to stay afloat. There's like NO quality-control going on in the manufacturing anymore. I've sunk about $2000 this past Summer into mine (an '02), trying to get it to stop shaking above 40 mph.
What does the dealer say? "There's nothing wrong. It's supposed to do that."

Huh?

Like I suppose the wheels were supposed to rot underneath the chrome plating (not covered by the warranty).

The cars do look pretty, though. I just won't buy one again. My first 2 were wonderful, but now... Nuh-uhn.

Like 20 years ago, lol.

P.S. I'm pretty sure you were being sarcastic.

Yeah, sarcasm in print is an art I guess.

Getting back to the car list debate, I do not begrudge anyone's car preferences. However, for the LIFE of me, I cannot figure out what people still see in American cars. Is it patriotism? Loyalty? A charitable need to give more of their hard-earned cash to the Red White and Blue? I just don't get it. Please, American car owners/lovers out there, please explain.

To me, it's got to be Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Subaru...in that order. (Of course, I'd throw Lexus and BMWs in the mix but they are a little pricer). So, please, someone explain the American Car lust. I just don't get it...

Yeah... I hear you rlm... it's a bummer situation that's for sure. I think it's a good idea to buy American and I have always tried to stay with American cars. I'm going to have a hard time not getting something different next time.

My last new car purchase was a Ford F150... third new American truck. I had to get a new engine at 90,000 miles. I know many people get a new car before then, but I couldn't and I didn't expect to need a NEW ENGINE. The truck was in for warranty service for the problems leading to the new engine and Pundmann Ford in STL had it for a week! What's wrong? Nothing. Then after warranty expires it just gets worse and worse until... bam, new engine. Everytime I see the Ford commercials with the people "promising to produce excellent cars" I want to throw my shoe through the TV! "Where the hell have you been every time I needed you!?" If that's not bad enough I even got bunged the day I bought my truck... there were factory incentives that the dealer (Pundman Ford, got that fellow St. Louisans?) didn't mention so they could sell me a lesser model at the same price!

I've often wanted to make a video about my truck. It would be really funny. The glove box absolutely will not close in less then 10 tries... it's always been that way.

So what do you get for buying American and trying to do the "right thing"? Well when I was helping my brother with some construction and we were carrying drywall into the job a rep from the Labor Union came by and asked us for our union cards. I explained that we were doing our own construction on our own job. He still asked why no union laborer. Being the naive moron that I am I accidentally said, "we're just doing these little sh*t jobs ourselves because the UNION carpenters said they couldn't do it... and it's just a few sheet of drywall."

My windows were broken out of my truck that night. My brother says it was a coincidence. I say he is a f*cking moron. I saved the rock and it still sits on top of my refridgerator. It's a 4 lbs rock... and NOTHING was taken out of the truck. Not even an Alpine cd changer which just sits on the floor.

Yay! Solidarity! Buy American... yay... uh... whew... hmm.

oh man. bummer of a story. few things tick me off than when people get away with that kind of sh*t. why does it seem we never ever catch them in the act? i had a buddy who left his car unlocked. he ran into the supermarket for literally 10 minutes to talk to a buddy that worked there. it was broad daylight. he came out, someone had stolen his car stereo. what balls. and we live in a small and pretty friendly area. and, this was 15 years ago, before anyone even heard of crack.

back to the car thing...again, i shake my head every single time i hear an American car story. back in the day when Ford Escorts were the rage, my girlfriend was given one by her grandfather. the engine blew. soon after, i met two other people who had ford escorts with blown engines. was there a recall? of course not. they sold way too many of them for dirt cheap to offer that.

to be fair, about the same time, honda had a CRX. remember that car? it looked like a little penny racer. i knew of a few blown engine stories with that model as well. but, that still would not deter me from avoiding American altogether.

What can I say, im a Honda guy. Although, and i am a little reluctant to admit this...but i remember when the Hyundai first came out. Remember the Scoupes? what a load of junk they were. It turned me off to that brand, nearly forever. but lately, I have been mildly attracted to their Santa Fe line. It's a good looking SUV. Great for packing sh*t. Even my mechanic says they got their act together and are now good cars...but i am still on the fence...

American though? no way...
Rick
