Help me put this all together!!

Ok now I finished eating humbled pie I can explain my latest situation.

I have in my hands a Minolta-SR Extension bellows along with a Quantaray 70-210 Telephoto for Minolta MD mount.

I got this locally for 20 bucks!

The Minolta SR Extension bellows has male AND female bayonet (spelled wrong I believe) mounts for Minolta MD lenses. Im probably going to pick up a 50mm for 25 bucks on Friday from the same spot.

I plan on using this for my own DIY DOF adapter..

My only thing now is getting a EL adapter which is basically a female lens mount (accepts lenses) which has threads on the reverse side that could fit filters or extension tubes or step up, step down rings you get the picture.

If Im not mistaken the bellows is preset from the jump for the "focal distance" from the lens to the GG and can be adjusted etc....

One other thing to consider is this thing SUPPORTS the lens! It actually screws onto the tripod plate itself, leaving me with a question about whether or not a small camcorder like a Panasonic GS300 can support its own weight or I do I have to construct something to support the camera?? Alot of SLR cameras are metal (the mount) and can support their own weight, but I don't know if a small camcorder can. (SUGGESTIONS????)

Here's a question for ya, if you were in my position considering the equipment that you'd have in front of you, how would you incorporate the GG into the whole shebang??

Like I said the EL adapter has filter threads on the back end, so Im thinking maybe something like a empty ring with the GG taped on or in it somehow??
BTW this would be incredibly cool and very EASY for changing out the GG, maybe I could wedge it between two UV filters or some plain glass in proper sized rings??
Im thinking Optosigma 55mm 1500 would do the trick for the GG, then it would just be a matter of putting the proper distance between the GG and the camcorder and attaching it. (SUGGESTIONS??)

Biggest problems at hand is

A - How do I figure out how far the GG needs to be from the camcorder????

B - What can I do about supporting the camera??? The lense is fixed to the tripod via the bellows but then this leaves the camcorder suspended. I mean I could use a second tripod for the camera but this kills the reality of panning anything. So maybe a wooden board that the camera screws into along with the bellows??? Using wingnuts or something like that???

Heres the pictures of the devices.

My thumb is covering the part where you mount this to a tripod, but its the standard size thread for tripods.

Btw I can grab a Minolta SLR camera body (parts) for 7 bucks from the same place, if anybody suggests I need a female lens mount.

So now that you guy's see what Im working with

HELP A BRUTHA OUT!!! Somebody anybody!!

Peace
Illumination

Could you not follow edweirdo's example on the DIY sticky and replace the 2" PVC pipes (which he used) with your bellow idea? I don't know if that would work, just a suggestion.

Where's your adapter Dando? Chime in when you have one completed and a design of your own....maybe that would work..just a suggestion.

Anyway, you could place a nice Diffuser inside that bellow. You would need a male to male adapter to fit on your dvx because on your 3rd pic it's female all the way through. I would suggest getting a male to male, then a step up to 52,62,72 somehow. I don't know what the threads are on your third pic possibly 49mm? It looks long enough to use. The adpater I have is only 2inches long without macro's and that looks around the same size.

Can't I make an observation unless I've made an adapter car? Please don't get too clever, I only replied because no one had given this guy a response to his dilemma in over a week! :Drogar-Dum(DBG):

Ill,

A - How do I figure out how far the GG needs to be from the camcorder????

For me with a regular DVX100 I had it about 1.5" away with two +7 achromats to magnify. They way I determined the distance was to photocopy a resolution chart and shrink it down to the size of a 35mm still camera negative. I then printed it out and used that as a test image to determine minimal DVX to GG distance.

Check out this link for pics:

Now on the other end of the GG, it should be placed 43.7mm from the back of the flat part of the lens mount, or the front of the female mount on the bellows.

I had all kinds of ideas, but designs change as you build and test.
I think for now you should just use a board and wingnuts until you have a working prototype.

Good luck with your project, keep us informed.

I can never figure out why someone wants to post their opinion than instead of just helping out...lets just let that go...I am chill...I'm sub chill....but Ill, I didn't think of Flange Distance on your bellow. Somewhere there's a chart on how far your distance from the back of the lens to the diffuser. I know FD is 42 and Nikon is 45, someone correct me. You could always just try focusing to infinity. If you have a glass cutter, you can gut a thorlabs piece of diffuser glass that's 2x2 and make it a nice fit in there.
