Help me Obe-Wan!

I shot some footage in 24pa and 24p, some with the widescreen mask and some without...Don't ask! I edited and rendered it in premiere 6.0 and threw in a bluescreen mask to even all the shots with no problem. Now...I capture the same footage in Vegas for the 24p thing and in the end I add the mask and bing...Vegas alows image to be vivible outside ( top and bottom) of the masked area...Why?

I'm not sure what you're doing here -- can you post some screen shots?

Also, take me step-by-step what you did in Premiere, inlcuding render settings.

Thanks David...I'll throw some grabs up this evening when I have time, for your review

Here is a problem frame after adding the mask and a pic of the mask itself. The mask is 720x480 and works well in premiere. I use it all the time to keep my wide dvx stuff consistant with other footage. For some reason Vegas over scans this mask. I'm thinking it must be a short circuit between the chair and the keyboard, but haven't been able to figure it out. My premiere settings were from a year or so ago and the only render settings I can recall are microsoft dv avi 720x480 29.976 fps if that helps. I throw the mask in the top layer, key out the blue and it worked flawlessly. Thanks for any help

Do you key out the blue before or after you render?

In any case, the better way to get the cropping in Vegas is to use the presets in the pan/crop tool. Work in a Widescreen project. If the 4:3 stuff doesn't match up to the widescreen stuff, then try right-clicking on the 4:3 (in the pan/crop tool) and choose "match output aspect."

Thanks David, I found a template in the pan and crop tool that made the 4:3 stuff output at 16:9 so it is consistant with the other footage which eliminates the need for the mask. Great stuff. I am trying to get this thing output in 24p with 5.1 audio which couldn't happen in premiere 6.0 and so far, this was the only glitch. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction:)
