I am shooting a Bar-Mitzvah and am wondering where the best place to position the camera will be (see attached image) Room is big, ballroom like with some canned lights recessed in the ceiling but the majority are fluorescent tubes light high in the ceiling. - this room has quite a high ceiling.
The podium, not sure if it's even raised, will be at an angle in the face corner of the room. On one side is a row of wall to wall glass and on the other will be a white wall. The will be seating for 80 guests.
Initially I said position 4 (see diagram) would be ok; camera out of the way of guests but the more I think about it positions one, two and three would be better as in position 4 I'd be shooting at the window and, I'd be getting quite an oblique angle of the speaker.
The sun, will be setting on the window side too, so this could be interesting (have to see if the sun will actually be visible at event time or will be further west of windows)
I am thinking that I could throw in a light on the non window side of the speaker too just too offset the sunlight.
Also, the way the chairs will be laid out seems like the tripod may obstruct the view for some of guests. Perhaps I should shoot from the back of the room? It would also help to have an isle that faces the speaker direct from the front that I could position the camera in the back of?
