The most common mistake that people in your position make is to sell yourself short. Figure out how much it costs you to stay in business each year (constantly reinvesting in new equipment, constantly promoting yourself), and how much you need to profit to keep working (don't forget about your retirement and taxes), and divide by the number of paid production days you conservatively anticipate for the year. This number will likely be higher than you expect. Then multiply x the number of production days in the project. This is your minimum profit margin, then add expenses plus contingency. In my experience you will be happiest in the long run if you don't think too much about what the client will want to pay.
