Help me get a G5

Thanks Terry! Got it.

LOL :) That's a good idea. There's no hook to my campaign. Nothing to bring in the younger crowd. Now where can I get my hands on that fax machine?

"TC: Don't tell me how to live my life, Jarred.
Jarred: Someone needs to. You're out of control, Son."

HAHA  What thread did that come from?

It's from the "What do you do when not making a film" thread (or something like that). I tried to find it again (to link you up), but can't seem to find it at the moment.

Ah yeah, I'm pretty sure I'd seen that before in that thread. Thanks for trying to find the link, but it's alright.

Wow -- I can't believe how negative things got in this thread.

The guy's selling entertainment, folks. You pay a quarter, you watch his video. What's so wrong about that? If you don't want to see a G4 get blown up, you don't send him the quarter.

It's like selling movie tickets in advance. Back when I was dead broke I considered doing that as a fundraiser -- selling tickets to the world premiere bash, maybe $25 apiece to the black-tie premiere. Maybe $100 to attend the cast 'n' crew party, meet the "stars", etc. Trick was, the tickets would be sold six months in advance -- so you take the cash from the ticket sales and use that to make the film, knowing that your "drop dead date" is when the party is.

Never bothered to try that idea, I don't know if it'd work or not.

This guy's doing something similar -- he's selling tickets (in the form of donations) to a video to be produced in the future.

I'm having a hard time finding what's wrong with it. You could say "nice try, but no thanks" if you want, but why hate the guy for trying?

Once again, Mr. Green, you have crystallized my thoughts eloquently. :)

Damn it! I said I didnt hate the dude! Why is everyone trippin on it? Cant I have a simple opinion on the matter and not be whipped into submission over it?

Bastids!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh sorry. Dont mind me.

It's all good. I was ribbing you 'cuz you seemed a bit pissed. I'm a bit ornery that way. ;)

Yeah, I think I need to put him in my sig in honor of DVXuser Zombie Fest. I wish I could play, but I am damn busy editing a six hour documentary - though you probably wouldn't think that since I post here so often. Believe it or not, I'm making major strides while spending lots of time here.

Okay, I'll be the one to address the pink elephant in the thread: Anyone else think that his video wasn't really edited all that well?

Perhaps if were a better video editor he could afford a G5.

Terry I love that quote in your sig. HAH! That was the perfect responce to me being a jack ass.

Hey, Phil... No, I haven't heard of that show. I just found that gif on a local sports forum. I thought it was an awesome animation and grabbed it.
