Help me find the best codec/conversion workflow

I am creating a video for a high school baseball team. I have been given loads of footage from many kinds of sources, including tapes and DVDs.

I have a Mac desktop where I use Final Cut Pro to capture the tapes and MPEG Streamclip to convert the DVDs. I also have a PC laptop I use while at work or while I am out to maximize my productivity. I would have preferred to use a codec that could go between Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere CS4, but I have given up on that as we are all still waiting for a codec such as this. What I am going to do is take the footage captured on the pc into Premiere and export it into something that can be used by Final Cut for the final edit.

They have dumped hours of footage in my lap and I am up against a deadline and can't find an optimal way to rip the DVDs. So here is what I need in a codec/conversion workflow: Converts fast, high Quality, relatively small file size, can be edited in Adobe Premiere. I want to rip it from the DVD, import it into Premiere, make subclips, export the subclips to mac-friendly quicktime, and make final edit in Final Cut.

I am using Super for my video conversions on the PC. But I haven't been able to find an optimal codec to use. Any software recommendations are also welcome.

DV in a Quicktime container sounds like the right codec for the job if you want to move across platforms. It's fast, relativly small (for today's standards), and edits on practically anything.
