Help me decide

Hello everyone,

Plz help me decide between macbook air m1 2020 8gb ram and a gaming lenovo 12th Gen. i7 with nvidia 3050 and 16 gb ram.

They are almost identical in price in my country, I will use the laptop for editing with premiere pro.

Things for consideration :
I have zero experience with macs.
I live in and work in hot conditions.
I do not have more selections in the market so thanks for any other recommendations, simply they may not be present.

Thanks in advance guys..

Lenovo Legion Pros are highly regarded by the gaming community and some of the best Windows world specs for the money, like this one:

But add another $1K or so and you get so much more power and speed:

With that said, will you ever be gaming on it?

If not, you REALLY, REALLY need to check out a Mac before you commit to one.

Some Windows people, especially the older generation, have a difficult time transitioning.

With that said, again, if you like the operating system and will only be using Premiere then there is nothing like Apple Silicon.

OK thank you guys so much.

I will never be gaming, just editing.

I just thought that gaming pc will deal with heat better than a Mac.

I will start the Mac system learning process, I hope the system will help me, putting in mind the long journey with windows since the days of 98 and xp.

That was a slightly frivolous comment from me previously. I have an M1 Max 16" Macbook Pro (32GB) which has been absolutely fantastic for editing. It is night and day better than my previous i9 Macbook Pro. You'd think they came from different decades in terms of performance. They technically do but.. you know what I mean. My girlfriend has a Macbook Air (2023) which also seems great (including for editing) but I haven't used it a lot.

It's possible / likely that previous gen windows laptops have better performance than previous gen (intel) mac laptops. Every mac laptop I had from 2012 to 2019 had severe heat / throttling issues. Apple silicon doesn't seem to have these problems at all.

So I assume the M1 would crush the i7 but this is just an educated guess. Maybe someone out there can make a more evidence-based comparison.
