Help making a Contract

I'm learning the hard way that many people in this industry like to hire you, bust your ass, ask for you to cover all rental expenses..... and then "forget" to pay. I'm in the process of making a contract (for freelence videography) and am a bit stumped. I want to protect myself withpout coming across as threatening. Is there a good place for examples of maybe even a template to use? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

I browsed the local wedj and grabbed nits and bits to create mine. If you want it done right then you would have to go to a lawyer I would assume.
