HELP! Lost Video on dead Hard Drive

Hey all, recently had a drive crash that took a lot of logged video from multiple reels with it. Is there a way to make FCP re-import video according to the off-line (missing files) clips so that we can maintain our existing clips and logging etc...? It will have to be from the original tape. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well... yes and no. It's happened to me before, and here's what I did:

All the clips I lost were basically from full tapes. I recaptured the tape's from begining to end, and then in FCP you can control click the missing media and scroll to "re-connect media". Uncheck the option of "exact name" (or whatever it says) and find the new tape. Re-connect to the newly logged tape.

The problem is that there's no way to capture the tape from the EXACT frame that it was before, so all the clips will be a little off. Now you have to find out how far off they really are (probably just a few seconds). Figure that out, and adjust the clips accordingly.

It's a pain in the arse, but it's saved me from having to re-edit an entire project.

Figured it out!!! All you hvae to do is, control click the clips then tell it to create a batch caoture from the missing clips only. Excellent! Brown thank you for getting back to me.
