help! losing saved sequences

Last night I did some extensive editing with elaborate enlarged photo pan sequences. In order to get letterbox I transferred the entire sequence to Quicktime, turned it into a movie, letterboxed it, and saved it all. This morning the computer says it can't find the sequence...and all the clips are white. Is there any way of retrieving the sequence the computer can't find? Does anybody know why this could have happened? It represents many many hours of work!

Check the autosave vault. Search for files modified in the last day.
Normally if FCP can't find a file itwill bring up a dialog box for you to 'find' them.
