I need to remove McAfee from my system because it did not download right. The problem is when I go to add/remove it just starts the installation process again and again because it says there is a component missing (NO DAH!) Since it never completly loaded it won't let me unload it. I just want the crap off my computer. Any tech Gods out there? ???

You'll need to reinstall it over again (completely) so you get the generated uninst.isu file (has to have this to uninstall), then uninstall it again.
If that doesn't work (it should), then you may have to restore you computer to your last restore point.
BTW - You're going to use some anti-virus software right?

Is this a download?
If so, it may be corrupted. Can you download it again and try to reinstall?
You might want to see if McAfee has had issues with installing this version of their software. They may already have worked out an answer.

Roger, thanks for the input. Yes this was a download and yes I downloaded it again And the new version stalled at the exact same spot could not get an override on it. Contacting McAfee is a joke
Three e-mails to them and not one response The only clue I have is the Saturday morning it said it had caught the MYdoom virus and auto cleaned it berfore I closed the window I noticed the name on the infected file to be a Mcafee spamkiller file. And from then on the spamkiller file doesn't work even though I reloaded it ???

Although suspected, I didn't want to suggest you had a virus... Always the last thing I do when trying to help.
I've not confronted this virus, so the best I could offer is you do a search at McAfee or maybe Norton Antivirus for 'MYdoom' and see what removal recommendations you can find.

Hooray!! I'm almost home All files removed except the Virus Protection file. By the way did a scan no viruses ;D Computer is acting normal again. Can you say BAD DOWN LOAD BAD! Thanks for all the input Roger! And Dan. It was great knowing I had some people in my corner. 8)
