I need to do multiple effects shots where i replace multiple blank computer screens with some computer generated images. I know i have to use motion tracking for that. However I also need to have it so characters can sit in front of the computers and walk by them and stuff. How can i do this?! I have access to Adobe After Effects CS5.

Im a DP so ive never done any visual effects before and this is my first go at it. Any video tutorials would really help. I just dont know where to begin.

If you set the screens to be all blue during the shoot then you may be able to key the people in front of them.

I'm thinking the best way to do this would just to first Rotoscope around the characters for the shot and then put that in front of the motion tracked images.

Does that sound right?

That'll generally work but it might be a lot of work on your part. Since you have CS5, the automatic rotobrush will help out here, I just used it successfully for a project and was pretty impressed with how it speeded things up. Good luck!
