If its of any help- I'm a bit of newbi myself- bought a DVX100a for indie work and have been reading this site and studying hard in a number of areas. When it came to getting an NLE, I looked at premier, avid, fcp, and vegas and due to numerous reasons, one of which being the great comments posted here by the moderators and others, coupled with downloading demos- I went with Vegas 6- and I haven't regretted it at all. I have a 3.6 ghz XPS with 2 gig of memory and while I have a lot (and I mean a lot) to learn still- for me- Vegas was the right answer (i'm working entirely for my own purposes here and not worried about working an editing job somewhere).

Ok this is the problem that my computer has only 512 mhz and I have to build one or buy apple 5 and I am confused about it !!
man it just so many software out there .

Do as Destrier suggests; I believe each of the NLE's are available for Download and Demo. If you get FCP your going to have to get a Mac.

I personally use and love Vegas; super friendly and pro.

I'd try something simple and easy to use. When you get to a point when you decide, "man, i wish i could do (insert here) effect" then upgrade to something different. My feeling is that if you start out with something high tech you might get kind of frustrated with it and overwhelmed.. So, I would try something simple first and keep using it until it no longer meets your needs. Hope this makes sense. I think iMovie or Windows Movie Maker or even Avid FreeDV would be in this category of "simple and easy to use video editors"

I use FCP but am considering entering into the Vegas world as well. Not because anything is wrong with FCP (it has been great for me) but because I have heard so many great things about Vegas as well. Personally though, I think a new person could probably start with any system and do fine for a while until you get some experience and have a better idea what you are looking for in an editing system. Good luck!

One last item of note: SONY proved its commitment to it user community today with the release of Vegas 6.0b (already downloaded and working great!) - I compare this to some of the other programs discussed here and elsewhere where dedicated users have been pleading for many months for updates and fixes to announced features (such as 24p support) that were apparently not provided or not working when provided. I think its been all of two, maybe three weeks, since 6.0 was released and the fix list looks very comprehensive! That's the kind of company I want to support!

Thanks for you'r support.
How long you been working wiyh vegas 6 ?
can I get Any training for vegas 6 ?
