Help hooking up an editing system.

NO CA$H

I'm getting a Vegas 6 Editing system very soon and I just want to make sure I know how to hook everything up right. I'm buying a Dell computer, a DSR-11 deck, a Sony PVM-9l3 monitor for my preview monitor, Two 19 inch flat panels, and maybe a Lacie 320GB HD.

I know the two flat panels hook up to the video card but how do I hook up the deck and preview monitor?

Someone explained this to me before but It slipped my mind.

OK, hook the deck into firewire, and the monitor into the decks RCA outs, in your NLE there should be a place to choose to preview your video on desktop and DV device. This will give you full screen preview. I use Adobe Premiere, so I can't say exactly where the choice is in Vegas to preview on DV device, but it should be somewhere in the preferences. Hook the Lacie drive up to the firewire as well via a 6 pin to 6 pin cable, I usually try to not power things off of the Firewire too. Also, make sure everything is off when you plug it in, just for safetys sake....

Alright I get it now. Do you think the monitor comes with the wires that plug into the deck?
Thanks pdx

Yea, if it doesn't though, it's just a standard RCA cable that you can find anywhere. There is a chance that the monitor might use BNC, but those aren't hard to find either, for a few bucks you can get an RCA-BNC adapter to use....The deck and hard drive should have the firewire cables.....

You'd be better off using S-video (or component, if the deck and monitor have that option). Better picture.
