Hi, so I finally finished at community college and even though LMU and Chapman both only accept about 5-15 trasnfers a year I made it into both as a production major
My dilemma is I have absolutely no idea which to choose. If you go to one or have friends that went to either could you help me out and maybe even send me your email?
I like the atmosphere of Chapman as a school overall much better, personally. But it's farther from LA and has less of an internship network. Apparently LMU has an older/more established film school, but Chapman seems to have a better reputation. Is that true? Also Chapman literally has facilities that are on par or better than any film school in the world and they are doubling their facilities soon. But facilities aren't everything and LMU still has really nice facilities including a sound-stage and a red with cooke and zeiss lenses etc.
I like the atmosphere of LMU's film school. It seems a bit more cooperative and laid back whereas Chapman seems a bit more competitive and more like USC which is supposed to be kind of cuthroat now. But maybe this is better/will prepare me for the industry. Of course both are more desirable than USC from what I can tell because everyone actually gets to make movies and you do more projects every year. You make a few more movies a year at LMU than Chapman.
I have one big question though. I heard that at Chapman you don't get to write your own screenplays. You have to team up with screenwriting majors and pick one of their screenplays to do. Is that true and how does that work out in your opinion? I almost always write my own work and I don't like this idea much.
Thanks,
Jackson
