help getting smooth _ slow slider shots

I have a moderately low cost slider that moves quickly but fluidly.

I want to slow the slider down but keep the video pulling smooth.

Do you know of any tricks to do this?

I was thinking tension through a series of small pulleys but didn't know if this contraption would work.

Hope someone out there has some ideas.

huh... I'm going to have to try that. Rubber band. I could see why that would work really well.

The rubber band trick works with practice. Also, you can shoot 720/60 and slow it down on a 30p timeline. I actually motorized my slider with a multi-speed servo and I am happy with that.

Mark I would really love to do that eventually... I lack the mechanical ingenuity at the current time to acconplish this without an expensive out-of-the-box motor... but its on my list.

Not knowing how your slider works can't 100% help. That being said on mine I can use my finger as a point of friction to control the carriage from running away so to speak. I also motorized it which is the most elegant solution though with motors comes noise.
