So I really wanted to improve my workflow and efficiency. I thought...why hassle with the tapes etc. ? Let's record direct from DVX into FCE.
It just WON't work! no matter what I try.
And yes...I've powered down and restarted everything etc.
I have only one firewire device connected (the dvX)
I do an easy set up on FCE for firewire basic.
I hit capture...and i can see the live feed from the camera...good times!
First I set the dvx for DV control EXT. Then I went into capture now and hit record on DVX...regardless of where I am and what I'm doing in FCE I get the Eternal DV disconnect flashing message on the dvx...so , no joy
Then I set DV to BOTH. Now I can get a capture going...but...it dies in seconds saying that capture now has reached the end of the tape...???? so, no joy
Then I set DV to OFF. Now when I try to capture...FCE just sits saying it's waiting for timecode...device must be in VTR mode.
Then when I hit REC on the DVX...I get that darn message again about end of tape!
Help!!!
I think the key here is this end of tape message. If I could get through that...I can just hit REC and capture now...with DV set to OFF...and I think it will work..but I just can't get rid of that.
