Help! Deinterlacing problem with export

I'm trying to export a video as a Windows Media file. It has simple
animated grahics top and tail, as well as a moving title at 00:21

In the export settings, if I choose "deinterlace" the animated graphics
are not crisp, but the titles are fine.

If I don't select "deinterlace" the animated graphics look fine, but the
titles are now interlaced.

You can watch them at the following links:

Deinterlaced

Not delinterlaced

My question is: What can I do to get everything looking crisp? I
don't want to select deinterlace, because I can then see lines
on the footage, but then I don't know how to fix the titles.

It was shot 30P on the DVX100b.

Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Peter

If it is 30p, you should have edited it as progressive, thus your titles should be progressive too, and you should not need any deinterlacing. Apparently, you edited main video as interlaced. It is your choice, and it allows for smoother title roll in/out on an interlaced TV, but now you have to do something about your graphics, like making it 60p and interlacing into main video. Mind you, some TVs will have issues with your video, trying to find out whether it is progressive (they will compare fields of one frame) or interlaced (your interlaced rolling titles will put these TVs off). Most TVs will switch to interlaced mode, other will show ugly interlaced titles in progressive mode, the very best TVs will make sense of it, but there are very few of these.

I would make the whole thing progressive, and would slow down the rolling titles in the low third, or maybe even not making them rolling in/out and simply show them onscreen to avoid strobing.

Problem fixed!

Turns out I did open an interlaced project by mistake. Silly me! I just imported
everything into a new "progressive" project and it works like a charm.

Thanks again,

Peter
