help, cos' this is costing me money.

i am having trouble trying to render a file that i put into a timeline in fcp.
as soon as it has finnished it crashes, everytime.
the file is a 5.6gb .dv
is it something to do with my 1gb RAM ?!

any help appreciated, as this is costing me money the longer it takes.

As far as I know its a windows codec. I havent had the issue for a long time - I did once. If I recall correctly (and I may not be) I either used - flip4mac or mpegstreamclip to export the file out as a QT before importing into FCP. Someone else might be able to confirm that. Sorry but I dont have a file I can test.
 
Why .dv? Maybe try exporting to to a full-res .mov quicktime clip first, then import that back in again and try exporting to .dv, is that's the final file type that you need to export to.
