what up?!

I'm working on a project that is being distributed online. I've been diddling with Compressor for a couple days trying to find the best combo of quality and file size...I might just be stupid but i can't seem to find a way to get small file sizes and maintain 16:9, this is the first project I've worked with 16:9 so maybe I'm just looking for the wrong things...anyway its HDV from FX1 cameras.

Any advice on how to do this would be great! I'm using Studio 2. It really bummed me out to see the first couple episodes go up in a crappy 4:3 all squeezed to sh!t instead of in 16:9 so we are trying to correct the problem!

Thanks!
Buck

Buck did you shoot in hd or sd mode with the HDV FX1 cameras? If you shoot in 16x9 in sd the file size is a little bigger, If you shoot in HD then its 6.8 times as many pixels than sd so you ending encode will be larger. I don't know what you consider bigger so if you can say what the size is it would help to understand what you encoding at. How long of a video are you encoding and what size is it to begin with and what size is it after encoding?

Here's my recipe for web files. Export from FCP using QT Conversion, select Broadband High (or Medium), in Options select h264, and custom aspect ratio of 480x270 (for 16:9). Here's an example shot in HD:
