Hey i just recently finished a video and i wanted to send my friend a screen shot. I went to "file" and clicked "get photo" and when i captured the still i wanted from my camera it gave me a poor 360x240x24 image and i wanted a full 720x480x24 image. I looked all around my software for properties to change this but i didnt find it. Can anyone help me?

I'm not sure this is what you are looking for, and I am prob going around a certain hole to get to my elbow, as they say, BUT when I want to save a grab from a clip, I drag the clip to my timeline(or go to the specific clip in my project), right or left arrow to get to the frame I want, and then click the little "save" icon that is to the right just over the preview window.

Not sure where you see File> Get photo. That's not in the Vegas or Vegas Caopture software that I have.

The image size when you grab a still with Vegas Capture depends on the widow size. Check the display readout along the bottom as you resize.

The best way to do a still capture from the timeline, is to set your project properites>Video to Field Order: None (progressive), set your preview to Best (full) and click the Save Snapshot to File icon.

The Neon Software plugin does all this in one step, even for many points along the timeline, and resets everything to the way it was.

So, is there no way to grab the snapshot from the Trimmer?

Unless I'm doing something wrong it seems kinda tedious to have to go into the 'Media Pool', then drag the clip into the 'Trimmer', then find the region that I'm interested in creating a still from, then drag it into the timeline, then do the 'Save Snapshot to File...' function (perhaps I shouldn't complain, I guess Vegas isn't designed to be a screen grab tool, but it would seem like a lot of people need to use grabs fairly often for various reasons). Ideally what I would like to do is to find the frame in the Trimmer and export straight to .jpg, because dragging a full clip (video and audio that is sometimes quite large), straight to the timeline is not the most elegant method. Hopefully there's an easier way that I'm overlooking.

I'm not sure what the issue is. Anything you have active in the trimmer shows up in the preview window. Anything in the preview window can be saved as a still.

Interesting....

I just did a test and dragged a clip to the Trimmer, and if I 'PLAY' the clip in the trimmer and then happen to pause on the right frame, the option in the Preview window to 'Save Snapshot to File...' becomes active, however, if I try to drag the cursor/line or toggle with my arrow keys to get it to the absolute frame I want, the option to save is disabled... I'm still open to the possibility that smoking crack while editing is no good, so, please advise if I'm not on the same page as you. Thx. btw, this is V5 if that makes a difference, I just haven't installed V6 yet.
