Help! :) Can't start premiere pro!

Hi guys,

I've been having this weird problem for a few months now and I've given up...

I used to use Premiere Pro all the time but suddenly, when I tried to open it, it would say, "Adobe Premiere Pro coud not load any audio drivers. Please reinstall Adobe Premiere Pro and start again." and the program would close right away. I tried reinstalling the program 100 times but the same problem persists.

That's why I moved to Sony Vegas 5 and I haven't had any problems with this audio driver BS. What's going on and is there anyway to fix this? Why does the audio drivers work for Vegas and not Premiere anymore?

Thanks,

Norm

Are you using an external soundcard or is your audio card not installed? I use an enxternal Soundcard for my laptop and whenever it's unplugged it affects Premiere loading up. Try reinstalling your soundcard, that will probably shore things up. Lemme know if that works.

Yeah, this problem actually started after I uninstalled my Audigy2 soundcard and sold it since my onboard motherboard has basically the same stuff. I didn't need all those advanced features.

Can people run PPro without a external soundcard though and why would Vegas work and not PPro?

I just installed Premiere 6.5 and the audio works fine in that as well.

Any suggestions on the steps I should take to solve this problem?

Thanks,

Norm

You might have to reinstall your onboard audio card. Check your audio settings under control panel, system, hardware, device manager.

It's possible that your audigy is still listed as being installed and it's interfering with your onboard soundcard.

And Premiere works fine without an external soundcard. You just have to make sure that those system settings aren't messing it up.

It may still be seeing some of the files associated with the audigy card. I'd check to make sure the card was completely uninstalled. Short of buying a new card to replace the one you sold, you could do a completely fresh OS install and start from scratch as long as you have all the software on disc.
