help, can't download vegas 8

help! i can't install vegas 8. i have vegas 6 and have no problems but i recently bought the new version 8 from b and h. i cannot install the program off the cd.

i think i am having troubles with the installation of the files microsoft. NET framework 3.0 and microsoft visual C++ 2005 redistribution. these two programs are apparently on the vegas 8.0 disk and need to be downloaded first before i can download vegas 8? in any case nothing happens after i get to the screen where the download for these files reaches its end ( where the green dots fill the appropriate empty box ) the download simply stops and does nothing. i cannot even turn my computer off because the download is apparently stuck in some sort of neutral.

help? i am obviously lost ( and frustrated ) i run windows xp.

Is the computer connected to the Internet? Is it checking to update Net Framework?

You might give Sony Media Software a call.

I had the complete Visual c++ 2005 Developer files on my computer when I updated the .Net to v3.0. At that point VS2005 would no longer compile, uninstall or reinstall.

I've had your problem before with another program. Even though it didn't complete install like in your case, it actually did. But something in the registry was missing that did not allow me to uninstall it. Maybe see if it's working anyways, or did nothing get installed?

And maybe you have to totally remove your older version of Vegas before starting the new install.
Also any previous versions of MS c++. Also do a windows update. If .Net was an older version try installing Vegas again. Good luck.

If your still stuck after consulting Sony Media, try repairing Windows and trying again.

Even though the install seems to hang, let it do it's thing for 10 or 15 minutes. I've had to do that recently. It finally did complete.
