help! blurred edges

We shot with a DVX-100A (24pA in squeezed mode-) – using a Century Optics .7x lens.
The image is clear in the center –but blurred on the left and right 1/3… when the lens was all the way wide .

This is not a vignetting – but a blur. It was NOT a problem on 1st day of shoot footage.
And then begins on 2nd day. When the camera had to zoom to a longer lens, this blur was not present.

Has anyone seen or heard of this? I am hoping it is a video interpolation problem stemming from the DVX crushing the left and right 1/3 into a squeezed mode…. And hope it can be properly interpolated – aka – fixed????
Any thoughts or ideas appreciated. Thanks.

Wide angle adaptors can be not super sharp as you move to the edges at full wide, but the Century Optics should be pretty good. There's probably nothing that can be done to fix it once it hits the tape. Can you post a frame grab?

With the lens wide open, you lack the necessary DOF to compensate for the focus shift that is occurring at the extreme edges of the adapter. Stopping down a bit should virtually eliminate the problem. There isn't anything that can be done in post to "fix it" but you might find a creative way of hiding the problem.

Depending on the editor you have in post you could change the size of the screen view and fix it? That's what we've done with the Avid systems, just crop the frame and wah lah "what fuzzy edges?"

Don't like to do it but have had to to get a boom mic out of the pic or the gut of a grip standing in too close and didn't catch he was there :)

follow?
