Help- Best way to make 29.97 file from 24p

Need to make a 29.97 interlaced version of a commercial shot at 23.98 (24p) and preserve the 24p look.

When I delivered before, I output to a DV camera and it adds pulldown and interlacing on output. Any conversion I tried other than this either converted it to 29.97 (not by adding pulldown but by adding motion estimated frames) or had weird interlacing/ blending artifacts that looked aweful.

Now I must send a file ASAP, and I can't use my DV method.

How can I add pulldown and make it an interlaced file while preserving the 24p look? Anyone that produces commercials shot in 24p but delivered at 29.97- how do you do this?

Thanks

Thanks. Looks like you're right. The only time fcp adds pulldown is when outputting over firewire. Anyone know of any other plugins that do this and cost less than the Nattress? ($100)

JES deinterlacer or After effects both have the ability to introduce proper pulldown. It drives me crazy that FCP can't do this. Or, if it can, I've never been able to figure out how.

There are instructions for doing this with AfterEffects over on the cinema5d forums somewhere. JES is free. A little reading and trial and error and you'll get it sussed.

Would this be the same with 24PN footage? If I simply output the final project via firewire to my DVCam deck, will that add the pulldown?

I believe FCP should add the pull-down on export, though you need to choose the correct cadence you want within the FCP settings.
