Help: After Effects 5.5 doesn't support 24pA pulldown removal

I'm in a super frustrating situation....I recently shot a short film using the DVX-100 in the 24p advanced mode. I'm really happy with the results and now want to digitize. My problem is that I have Premiere version 6.5 which doesn't do the pull down removal. I have After Effects version 5.5 but again I'm out of luck. Only version 6 and above supports the 24p Advanced pull down removal. I actually have a copy of Premiere Pro 1.5 but I'm running Windows 2000 and it only runs under XP.

I'm virtually out of funds and can't really afford the $199 After Effects 6.5 upgrade. I also can't really afford to go out and buy a copy of XP, not to mention the extreme hassle of backing up my harddrive and then installing XP and then installing all my applications again.

This is an incredibly frustrating catch 22 situation. I'm hoping someone out there might be able to suggest some solution.

Thanks in advance!

my first queston is :why did you shoot in a 24p mode that you dont have supporting equipment to process in post?

my second question is: does it absolutely need to be edited in 24p? or can you just make a NTSC 29.976 edit and call it a day.

3rd ?: could you download a trial version of vegas and remove the pulldown and export as true 24p file for use in PPRO 6.5 since it does edit 24p but just cant do the pulldown

Well AE 5.5 does support 3:2 pulldown removal & I'd used it before when cutting film projects. I just didn't know that it didn't support the 24p advanced format.

No, it doesn't absolutely need to be edited in 24p. It's just my preference.

I'll look into Vegas to see if that will meet my needs. Thanks for the reply!
