sup yall. i got a gift certificate to b'n h and am trying to figure out tripods. any suggestions or deals? the options are mind boggling...

under 500. why does everything in this industry have to be so goddamned expensive? i guess there's always c47's...

it seems so freaking simple... i'm tempted, that's for sure. it seems like an easy diy job, eh?

There are a couple of threads in the DIY section of people who have made their own fig rigs. I played with one briefly but wasn't a big fan of them. I didn't find it to be a stabilizer, but then again, I got a GC4000 almost a week ago and still haven't balanced it out 100%...

Also, that tripod combination (3046 & 503) is what I have. It's a great set up, really love it a lot.

I have the fig rig. Been using it for a couple of months now. It's pretty cool. It's really unlike anything else and sort of has it's own look in terms of motion. You can really get in to tight spaces. It's interesting for low angle stuff also. For the price you can't beat it.

I don't understand how the Fig Rig can replace a tripod though. I mean you still have to hold your camera and everything.

Whats the point of them?

It's not really meant to replace a tripod. It's just designed to help smooth out handheld shots. I've never seen a need for it for what I do.

I bought it from BnH - it's about $300.00 (I already had the zoom).

It is what it is. If you have 1 you'll find a reason to use it. Anytime you want some motion in your shot or better yet. When you're outside and you need to move fast it's great. Or if you just want some motion and can't afford a steadycam pull out the fig rig. It takes a minute to get used to it but once you do .....

im about to shoot some action sequences, and i thnk the fig rig might be the most affordable option...
