help 4 night club shooting

i need help in finding a good add-on light 4 my dvx100 camcorder 4 night club shoots, any 'n all help will be greatly appreciated!

hey there,

i want to spend no more than $500, but i'm not 2 familiar with how much a good light should cost,

i plan to shoot once a week or so

nothing major, just want to get something decent

I've worked with the Pag and Frezzi systems and prefer the Frezzi. But the Pag will get the job done and you can't beat 400 bucks for a whole package.

does the lighting system power itself through the camera?

'n also, any specific models other than the ones listed on evs i should look into?

Neither of those are powered thru the cam battery (which is probably a good thing, given the power requirements of both).

The Pag and the Frezzi are the only two that I'm familiar with, too. I bought the Pag, and am satisfied with it, but having seen the Frezzi after I got the Pag, I probably would go with the Frezzi if I was buying it today.

Check out the Smith-Victor SV-840 lighting kit. The kit includes everything you need to shoot using the battery that's included or from standard 120v wall voltage. It comes with a bulb for dc/battery work only. You have to buy an ac bulb separately. The light has four "barn doors" that let you control where the light goes and a 5600k dichronic filter which lets you use the light outside in natural light without messing up the white balance.

I got mine from B&H Photo for well under $200. That includes the light, the battery which comes in a shoulder bag, a charger, the filter, the 100 watt dc bulb, and all the cables you need for both battery and wall current power.

It's a great light for clubs, but you'll probably need a lower wattage lamp as the 100w bulb is very bright and will only run for about 30 minutes with the battery. You'll need a better light if you want to film a movie, but just for throwing some light it's a good deal.
