Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to say hello. I'm David Manning. I'm from a still photography background and I'm trying to feed my creative curiosity about moving pictures. I've been doing a lot of reading and have the tools for my humble needs (small, personal films and documentaries), so now I'm looking for a working group I can learn from, bounce ideas off of, and solve problems.

I'm purposefully restricting my world to 1080p for simplicity. That, and I know 1080p is good enough for most needs I'll ever see (even a lucky break at a film or doc festival). That being said, I'm shooting a dSLR. Before you groan, it's a tool I'm familiar with, and provides good imagery and a solid build for outdoors (first-gen EOS 1DX).

I'm glad to be here, so let the learning begin!

Welcome welcome. There are some truly talented and knowledgeable people on these boards.

Dslr all the way, it's the eye that works the tool afterall. Cant wait to see what you come up with down the line.
 
Thanks, 70Deep. I'm writing a short script now. Hopefully I'll shoot my project next month. Trying to find a good sound person who will work for lunch and booze.
