alright, starting a new project in the making. I took some video of my friend with a sword and transforming it to a "Light Sabre". From some tutorials, they are very informative and good. when starting a new frame. How to move the light sabre move continuous with the sword. I am using Gaussian Blur for the effect.

the first frame looks good, using 'key frames' how to move the light sabre to the next frame, but not leaving a trail of the last frame?

Hi SlackerCat,

FCp is definitely not the place to do this with great results. However, to answer your question - load the clip into the viewer, click on the motion tab, enable and twirl down the motion blur menu, adjust to taste.

Yeah- do some more research- there are tons of VFX programs out there. Some even have light saber effects built right in for all kinds of cheesy fun. But leave FCP for editing not VFX.

Thanks guys for your quickness. found a program from FX home. looking to it, again, have no idea how to use but fuddle along.
