Need some help revision my short film script.
Basically, it draws on two basic ideas:
1) Man (technology and society) vs. Nature (and uninhibited human nature).
2) Restoration of a fallen kingdom. (The Romance--my favorite story. My love of Paradise Lost and the Wasteland relates primarily to the simple appeal of the Romance archetype and I believe the popularity of Christianity relates to this, too, but I don't want to get controversial.)
Anyhow, the script is sci fi that deals with a distopian future but relates to contemporary issues.
Oil runs out and companies grow too large. All seems lost. Yet...things don't turn out so badly. Under the guidance of the benevolent leader of the world's largest corporation (Genomics), a sun gathering system is created that fuels the world without causing any waste or need. The US, China, Russia, the EU and most of the civilized world stop fighting over the last remnants of fossil fuel, and instead work together and usher in a new era of prosperity....
Until the head of the corporation is murdered under mysterious circumstances, and his son, Moon, takes over. He builds a massive satelite, creating a permanent solar eclipse, and preventing solar power from being delivered...except to him! He takes over the "civilized" world. Only "savage" areas that don't rely on technology are free from his control! What irony! The prosperous civilized world is helpless; only the "savages" living without technology can survive without surrendering to Moon!
An uprising begins. These people live off the land, but are free. They represent nature and human nature. Rousseau's dream: a man free of government, free of bounds!
Yet he is also free of technology and must fight against the rest of the world for freedom....
Issues of anarchy versus totalitarianism arise. Man versus nature. Technology versus religion....faith versus empricism.
The Hegemony of Archon!
Crits please.
