Heavy-duty flat-base fluid head recommendations?

Hi guys,

Looking for a flat-base (3/8" mounting hole) fluid head to use with my monopod. And I'm after something that can handle a full-size camera if need be.

The options appear to be pretty limited. There's the Miller DS20 (which handles up to 10kg/22lbs) and the new Manfrotto Nitrotech (which does up to 12kg, 26lbs), but I don't really trust Manfrotto heads (on past experience).

I'm wondering if anyone has recommendation for flat-base heads that have worked well for them?

Cheers

I'm a fan of my Really Right Stuff FH-350 flat base head with quicker release on the flat base, but it's only up to 10 lbs so that may not be enough for your needs.

I will say regarding monopods, the larger and heavier the camera, the more unweildy it is on a monopod, and the more stable it is handheld (and also generally better shoulder ergonomics), often then negating the need for a monopod. I used to use my monopods a lot with C100s and DSLRs, particularly for event work, but now with the C300 Mark II and Amiras I find monpods have less benefits such that I rarely use them.
