Ok here is my rig. What was I thinking? This thing is heavy. It weighs in at 26lbs.

It consists of:

Canon A1
Letus Extreme
Marshall Monitor
DvPro Rig HD
Firestore FSC
IndiFocus
IndiRails
Sennheiser G2
Manfrotto Zoom Controller.

Here is the whole rig mounted on a tripod (which it is way too heavy for!)

Dude,

You've got me beat, I am at only 22lbs but mine doesn't have a DVRig Pro either. Now it's time to stop buying toys and buy a real tripod, right?

Dan

I agree. Tripods are not very fun to spend money on, but they are really important.

In the photos I was mostly showing what was possible. Actually, my rails have a quick release to come off of the DVRig and directly on to the tripod. The cool thing is the whole setup is modular. I can be: rails only, rails on tripod, rails on DvRig, rails on DvRig on Tripod. I will need to get a much better tripod to have the last option.

I am doing a full shooting test tomorrow with the DvRig. It seems unlikely that the support rod will snap. I certainly hope not. The area I am worried about it the metal under the left grip. It is definitely delicate. We'll see.

looks like that dvrig-pro's got that weight balanced out pretty nice???

On the tripod, it leans a little to the left because of the Marshall hanging out there. On my shoulder, I can move the support rod (not shown above) around to adjust the balance.

If I set it up right, I can operate 'no handed' - one hand on follow focus and one hand on the A1 iris, with the support rod and my shoulder holding up most of the rig.

What no lights on the camera? I was totally expecting a few 2k HMI's with some sort of snake light long enough for backlighting your subject! This reminds me of the first color film camera's that were just small enough to fit through a door!

I'm shooting a horror/thriller feature in late Feb with an XH-A1 and Brevis, mostly shoulder mounted... My rig looks nothing like that! Will post pics shortly, awaiting my follow-focus then it's good to go.

What's the zoom control for? Isn't it useless since you use the adapter?

You can actually get a full zoom range with the LEX. I have shot many times zoomed in on the GG (sometimes at 100%). You lose the strict 35mm framing, but for documentary work the zoom in really important. Also my controller focus and record buttons. When I am wearing the rig, I use the record button on the controller (it is the easiest to reach).
