Headphones

I want to learn more about sound monitoring, headphones in particular, for editing. I am in the market for new headphones and I am a little lost on what specifactions to look for. Obviously certian headphones are made for very pleasent listening experience but perhaps these arent the most accurate. I would think i need something that can output a very wide spectrum of tones so while i am editing i dont leave any sound i dont want in (or atleast do my best). Senhieser has such a big selection I am lost and I head the sony mdr's are good. what recommendations do people have and what specifiaction should I look for or terms I should know.

Generally speaking, you don't want to use headphones for editing. You want to get monitors that will match best to what your target is (TV, theaters, computers, etc.)

But, that said, the standard for production headphones is generally considered to be the sony 7506's. There are (as you noticed) lots of other choices and lots of opinions on those choices, though.
