headphones

You will find that many LOVE their Sony MDR-7506 headphones. I am sure they are excellent phones. However, I have the Etymotic E6 earbuds and they are also outstanding. They may not look as sexy as the 7506 phones but they are performers. They, fit snuggly inside the ear, are nearly invisible, prevent echo, sound great and can fit inside of a shirt pocket.

The Etymotics are pretty much my standard. :)

Excellent quality, tiny enough to fit in your pocket or anywhere in your bag, they do not intimidate interviewees.

If the interviewee feels intimidated by a pair of headphones, maybe they should pass on the interview!:laugh:

7506 User here too. I was using some AKG cans, but once I got the Sonys, there was no going back to the AKGs.

The best $99.00 bucks you'll spend.

I'm all about the etymotics. They completely block out all outside sound, so you hear exactly what your cam is capturing, awesome in loud settings. I end up shooting with a helmet on pretty often too, so they are great in that situation.

I've got both etymotics and 7506's, and they're both superb. However, if you're shooting 24p on a DVX100A, the etymotics will eliminate the echo (because they're noise-isolating) whereas you'll still hear echo with the 7506s.

barry, isn't the 24p echo only found on the original 100p and not the 100a?

Actually it's the other way round. :(

It was a response to complaints that recorded audio was out of sync and needed shifting in postproduction. Unfortunately the 'fix' just moved the sync problem to the acquisition stage. Very annoying.

I've got two pairs of Sennheiser HD280's. So comfy, great sound. Can't say anything but good things about 'em.
