i know its difficult but basically i want a pair of headphones thats as good as the xl2 without overkill or compromise! all suggestions welcome budget unnder a hundred pounds.........

I second that... unless you have at least $200 or more to spend that's the only choice.

In fact I'd say if you had $200 to spend on headphones that the best option would be TWO pairs of 7506. That's what I did... really.

(one on me and one on sound guy... that way he monitors the boom and I monitor him... no problems)

I've always liked the 7506 from Sony.
Bose just released a studio quality set of headphones, but the sticker shock isn't worth the claims of the set: $599 street price. Insane.

the best i think about the boss is to use their foam for 7506 - much cheaper then the original and make the 7506 sits tighter on the head:-)

Which Bose model foam should we get for that?

I already replaced the foam on my older 7506 'phones and it was $18.

I don't care about the cash savings but I'll use the Bose foam for the improved fit... (which is already good by the way).

i don't remember the boss model, you have to check in the store

that was koss - not boss stupid me:-)

I just got a pair of Sony 7506 headphones delivered yesterday from B&H for $98. They really are superb value for money. Couldn't belive the length of the sound cable though! Must be about 6 metres long and waaaaay to long. Must have been a Friday night and they had to use up all the cable before they could go home!

Still, for the money they are the headphones to get and very comforable as well.

Highly recommended.

I must have an odd shaped head, because after an hour or so I don't find the 7506's all that comfortable. Acceptable, but not what I'd describe as comfortable.

Still, as others have said, they're the best deal on a real piece of quality equipment which actually is used by sound professionals the world over.

you are not allone my 5 years old doughter also dosnt find them comforrtable , she prefers the sennheisers :-)

I like my Sennheiser HD 25 SP they have a good sound and gives a high soundlevel whit my DVX

if you can find a pair of Beyer DT250 earpad, fit it to the 7506. Can fit but you want you can also try a pair of Softie by Garfield as i fit well to 7506 too.
