Headphone Static/Popping Sound

I bought some of Sony's MDR 7506 headphones about a month ago. I use them for listening to music and editing in FCE. When I took the headphones off a few minutes ago I heard some popping sound and it kind of shocked my ears like static electricity or something. The headphones were still plugged in and I wasn't doing anything out of the ordinary. Do I need to send these back or fix them somehow?

I just hope I'm not the only person this has happened to... :cry:
 
Do they still work or are they dead? Try with a different device if you're worried about the cause being the computer rather than static electricity.
