HDV to 35mm Transfer

I am planning on shooting a feature film on the Sony V1U, the current plan is to shoot 1080p and 23.976 (Which is 24pA right?).

The plan is to release on DVD / The internet, but with high hopes (and a distributor with deep pockets... god willing) I'd like to have the ability to blow it up to 35mm in the future.

The reason I am not shooting on 35mm is because I'm not sure if it will get a theatrical release, and I don't want to shoot on 35mm for a straight to DVD film.

So, the real question is, what are the best specs to shoot a film on HDV that can be transfered to 35mm film without to many problems?

Companies that do filmouts generally have a list of specs they like you to adhere to while shooting for filmout. Check their websites or contact them.

Wow! I just did that, not the 35mm blow up. But I just shot a feature with the Sony V1U. Make sure you have a lot of light, but when you do the picture is absolutely gorgeous. So good that I rented my whole system out to another filmmaker bent on shooting with the HVX200. When he saw what I did with the V1U, he was floored and took his HVX back, and saved $3K by renting my equipment.

Yeah, I just shot a short film on the V1U, it came out so beautiful.

I want to shoot on the V1U for my debute feature film, with a 35mm attachment for DoF, but Im concerned about the settings for 35mm blow up.

This company transfers hd and sd to 35mm. They do give settings for some cameras I think. The best part I found was the online quote, very enlightening!
