HDV output to view on Mac

I shot some 1080i footage on my hv20, and wanted to know the best output settings in Vegas to show on a Mac, straight from the hard drive not meant for web so it can be a pretty large file.

Length will be a minute and a half, I have to render it on my PC then move to a Mac at school that's hooked up to an HD TV to show for class. Suggestions? I have Vegas 7.

Cool. But what about the deinterlacing that you talk about in your tutorial? Since I didn't shoot 24F, I don't want to deinterlace, right? Would I have to do anything different?

Yes, you need to de-interlace, the HV20 shoots interlaced in its 50i/60i modes. What you don't need to do is remove pulldown (because you didn't shoot in 24p mode). But you still need to de-interlace.

Let me know how it goes.

You can output as 1440x1088, pixel aspect 1.333 (or 1920x1088, pixel aspect 1.000), using a custom frame size in the MainConcept AVC/AAC (.MP4) dialog box. This is H.264.

I've been trying to figure out the best formats to output video, and i can't quite figure this out....

My footage is in 1440x1080. If i reduce the size by half, it looks stretched. Is there a formula i can go by to figure out what my resolutions i can output at from 1440x1080, or doesn't anyone have a chart i can refer too? I'd like a size around 720x??? and 360x???

Here are the best SD export sizes for 1:1 widescreen footage:
848x480 (best 480p SD resolution for TV appliances, like the PS3/AppleTV/Xbox360)
320x176 (best for ipod/cellphones)
If you export for youtube/PSP/iphone, use this instead 480x270

I got a PS3 recently, and I don't bother export in SD btw, I just export directly to 1920x1080 in h.264
