HDV or SLR

I've been wondering if I should shoot my backgrounds for greenscreen with my SLR at 2:1 then convert or keep everything 16:9 by shooting a minute of HDV. I'm shooting with a little handycam and not sure how this will all match up if I start throwing my SLR into the mix. I'll then be editing and saving in HDV then converting to BetaSP for a local film festival.

I think for the sake of my editor, I'll keep all video including background as matching HDV and use my SLR for production shots.
