I just got handed a "project for a friend" Don't worry, "it'll take a real editor like you an hour" Needless to say I've been dicking with this nonsense for an hour and haven't even begun editing.
The project was shot hdv, brought in to an external drive via imovie. Somehow the clips are showing up 960 x 540 using the apple intermediate codec. 29.97.
I'm easy setup on fcp 5.4 hdv 1080 60i.
No matter how I set up my easy setup and sequence, the clips are going into the timeline unrendered with a red bar over the sequence, or at the very least an orange bar. which allows me to play through but seems to lettter and pillar box the clips.
960 x 540 seems strange, although my p2 clips come similar sometimes.
Anyone know the quickest way to get cutting properly. Is it worth getting the tapes and re-importing all the footage.
