HDV footage - DV NTSC sequence accidentally created best way to move it?

So one of my interns took HDV footage (client provided--HDV is a mess!!!) and created various sequences accidentally in DV NTSC. I thought I could just copy the clips in the sequences and then paste them into a new sequence that was properly created (HDV 1080)....when we drop it in the clips still look NTSC 4:3. If I drag a clip from the bin to the new sequence it displays fine....so it's not the capture/import.....

I have the intern rebuilding the sequence by copying attributes but does anyone know why I can't just past the clips in one sequence and have it take on the attributes of the sequence it is in....?

Copy the clips into a new sequence like you did. Then highlight them all, select remove attributes. Check distort. Hit ok. Clips should snap to proper ratio.
