Re: HDV Edit IN Vegas SLOW!

The suggested HD workflow in Vegas is to render your footage to AVI, then add the HD as takes so that anything you apply to the avi (color correction, etc) is also applied to the HD.

In other words, you create avi proxies for your HD footage so the system can process more quickly during the actual edit stage.

Re: HDV Edit IN Vegas SLOW!

Right click/drag the media from the explorer and drop it on the timeline event. Choose 'add as take'.

Re: HDV Edit IN Vegas SLOW!

One more thing I just checked the AVI is larger than the M2T file and yet avi file are no delate and m2t. are very very jumpy?

why is that?

thanks for all the help

Re: HDV Edit IN Vegas SLOW!

With HDV, you *could* render to avi, but it will cost you space and a lot of time, and you lose color space, color correction on 4:1:1 isn't going to be accurate on 4:2:0 which is what HDV is. Not to mention the skewed aspect. (1.333)

So...for the time being, deal with slow. Or get the Cineform HD aspect tool, which does a different kind of proxy and works VERY well with transport stream conversion.
Editing HD just ain't ready for primetime, not today. Could very well change quite soon.
