HDV downconverting to SD, why is that being done?

[Jay Rodriguez]

Being totally new to HD I keep reading info here and there regarding HDV downconverting to SD.

Why do people do this?

[GenJerDan]

Why try to distrbute HD when only 17 people have systems capable of playing it?

[Andrew Brinkhaus]

Exactly. The HD distribution world is not quite there yet...Plus, downconverted HDV to SD will still look better than something shot in SD, technically.
