HDV and Vegas

Hey folks,

I just bought a Z1U, so i'm wondering if you guys could point me to a good vegas/z1u tutorial.

Also, I was curious weather you thought my PC had enough power to cut HDV.

it has a 2.2ghz processor and 1 gig of ram.

Checkout www.vasst.com for all things Vegas and HDV. I think there is even a book available about Sony HDV camera's on that site, written by Vegas experts.

Your pc is not good enough for editing HDV footage (=compressed MPEG2 video), no matter what software you use with it. Vegas requires 3 gHz or better, I recommend a dualcore/dual processor machine and 2 GB of RAM memory for a smooth performance. Use Vegas version 7, that's the best one for HDV.

well, forget it if my comp can't handle it. oh well. I only bought the camera because i rent one every week and it was starting to be a waste of cash.

I edited my film, shot on a Z1 using VEGAS 6 (on an Hp that was upgraded from 512 to 1 gig, AMD 3400+)
...worked absolutely fine when using gearshift and working with proxy files...to upgrade the project back to HDV though, you will need to upgrade to Vegas 7 and preferrably a dual processor 5200 or above...1 gig ok but 2 gig is prefferable...as someone mentioned earlier, all your questions can be answered at www.vasst.com

Hope that helps somewhat...

I use Vegas 6 with cineform and 1.4 ghz amd. Work great. I also have a 3ghz pentium which is also good. Cineform is the key I think and don't forget, cineform is bundled with vegas....
