HDV, 16x9, Compressor, 1440x1080, RevoStock?

Trying to compress some HDV footage for RevoStock. Shot with the Canon XH-A1 and using Apple compressor to convert to Photo JPEG. So HDV is 1440x1080 and to get it to stay the 16x9 ratio can I do a compression to 1440x810. I know I can go to 1280x720, but is there a way to keep it 16x9 at the 1440x810? Someone said keep it 4x3 at the 1440x1080 and the editing program will know to make it 16x9.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
john

You need to keep the Pixel Aspect Ratio (PAR) consistent. HDV is 1440 x 1080 with a PAR of 1.33 to make it 16:9. You can either keep the PAR at 1.33 or go for square pixel at 1920 x 1080

I am still getting a file that is 4x3 after compressor. Here is the setting I am using (and I have tried plenty of other versions):

Is this suppose tp be 4x3 when playing through quicktime?

You're getting a 4:3 file because Quicktime doesn't recognize anamorphic pixel. 1440 x 1080 at 1.33 is 4:3 unless the program reading it knows to interpret it correctly. 1920 x 1080 is the same thing, same quality.

Okay, so 1920x1080 works, but I think Revostock is wanting to keep it native at 1440x1080. So does this mean, keep it that aspect and keep at 1.33 pixel and just send it on?

Thanks,
john

Looks like I am just going to 1920x1080. Should I still manually make the PAR setting 1.33, 1.00 or square? Still having some playback issues with the photojpeg compressed files. Just wondering if it is my computer or the files?

Thanks for any help.

At 1920 x 1080 it would need to be squared pixel (or PAR=1, same thing) for the resulting video to be widescreen.

Cool.
I have included a link to a file I will use on RevoStock. Anybody want to download and try it in their NLE is okay. It stutters a little sometimes on my MacBook Pro, but I think it is just performance issues.

Let me know if it works for you. and everything is good.

Thanks,
john
