HDMI out card

Will anyone suggests/recommends a HDMI card with HDMI out port so that I can connect it to my HDTV? I have a HP DV2700 CTO laptop that has a HDMI out port and it is working wonderfully with my HDTV. I need to do the same with my editing system (a Dell Precision 670) workstation.

Thanks for the response. I'm going to read the specs but before I do, are you saying this Blackmagic Intensity card can capture video from HD camecorder as well as an output my whole computer monitor to my HDTV?

Thanks! I found that it works both ways. However, I have another question regarding this. How will it work on my HDTV if my computer have dual monitors?

The Intensity is a video capture card, and will output from your editing program or the included software... just like a normal analog capture card would. Whether you have single or duel monitors is irrelevant. Are you asking if you can use it so that your HDTV acts as another computer monitor? If so, you need to replace your video card with one that has either an HDMI or DVI output.

I'm not sure what I'm after that's why created this thread. However, here's what my laptop has. It has standard VGA out for analog monitor and also a HDMI out. When I connect this HDMI out to my HDTV HDMI in, I can see not only the software of my editing program but everything just a regular monitor except it'so on my HDTV. I am looking for a HDMI card that will do that. Is that mean I have to replace my video card? If so, what are some of the video cards that will do that? In addition, can I have more than one video card or do I have to remove my current video card?

So from the sounds of it, you're looking for a video card replacement. Go to Newegg.com... they have a gazzillian video cards. You can, in theory, I think have multiple video cards. Also, if your existing video card has two outputs, and at least one is a DVI out... all you need is a DVI/HDMI adaptor or cable. DVI and HDMI use the same video stream, so all you would lose would be audio... which if you're just using it as a computer monitor shouldn't be an issue.

I already have a good video card. I don't need to buy another one if I don't have to. And in addition, although I have two DVI out of my video card, I still need my dual monitor too. I want the HDMI out to my HDTV if I need to look at my color correction or show to my client. I am not sure why a simple HDMI out card is not available. I have not open my laptop up but I'm pretty sure the HDMI out is either a separate card or part of the motherboard and not a video card.

So you want the HDMI output to work as a second computer monitor sometimes, and as a dedicated video monitor at other times? I'm not sure if this is what you mean, and also not sure if this is possible.

I use a Mac, and my video card has two outputs. I also have an Intensity Pro card. I run one of my DVI-outs to the RGB input of my HDTV (via an adapter) so that I can use it as a second monitor sometimes, and then I use the Intensity HDMI out to the HDMI input on the same HDTV so that I can monitor from FCP, Color, Soundtrack Pro, etc. Maybe a set up like this would work for you... if your HDTV has an RGB input as well.

I'm on Adobe CS3, and my setup is similar. DVI from my video card to one input on the monitor (Samsung T240HD) for when I want it to serve as a computer monitor, HDMI out of BMD Intensity to another for when I want it to serve as television monitor.

Understand, doing TV video out and computer video out aren't exactly the same thing, which is why one do it all wonder card probably doesn't exist.

Thanks for the input. For some reason my HP DV2700 CTO HDMI out port can do everything. The laptop's screen is fully functional as well as what is also showing on my HDTV. The HDTV would show exactly as what is displaying on the laptop screen. The HDTV would mimic everything I do on my laptop screen and viceversa. That's why I was asking for such a HDMI card.
