I posted this in another area of this forum with limited response, so I thought I would try here.
I Have three projects that are 30 minutes a piece. All shot with the HVX200 in 720p. All edited on the latest version of FCP HD. They look phenomenal on the monitor but after compression and burning...they look like they were filmed with a camera phone. I'm sure this topic has been covered before but my search really did not give any clear answers. I'm primarily the shooter/director and I farm out the edits. Omega Broadcast in Austin got the job with these and so far have no solution. I'm on a pretty strict deadline here and am trying to find some information out on my own. I heard Sonic Scenarist is the way to go with authoring but even then I hear there are compatibility issues with different HDDVD players. If anyone has any info it would be much appreciated. Also if anyone here authors HDDVD on a regular basis and successfully burns it to disc, and can provide me with a sample of their work, and can work from a FCP HD timeline stored on a G tech raid drive. Please get in touch with me asap as I have 15-20 more projects this year that will need to be delivered in HDDVD. Thanks much, James Thomas
p.s. One thing I have learned last night is that Toshiba HD DVD players must use a different codec. I have the latest Toshiba and my friend has the first Toshiba....He can play one of my check discs on his and hear the audio while on mine, no audio at all.....both look really bad though.
