HDD/SSD setup

Hello,

I will start off by saying I don't have a ton of money and I am hoping save up enough to buy a NAS Bay so I can get a Raid system. In the meantime where is what setup I currently have. As of this moment I won't get a Raid system till a few years out as I am struggling with money and really need to save up for paying other essentials. I would like your feedback on my setup to see if perhaps I should switch a few drives out for other ones.

Setup for iMac Quad Core 17 with 8GB of Ram. (Will upgrade to 16GB)

1. A 1TB SSD OS and Applications

2. A 500GB SSD Scratch Disk/Exports

3. A 3TB 7200RPM HDD for Media Files and Project Files (For Adobe Premiere and After Effects)

4. A 5TB HDD 7200RPM for File Storage of old projects that are complete.

5. A 5TB HDD for Time Machine Backup which backups all drives above.

I also store backups of all drives with BackBlaze and also store current projects in One Drive if I need to send something via email.

Is there anything I should change or add?

Thanks,

Are you going to be using other computers to access your media at the same time? Wondering why you feel the need for NAS setup? A lower cost solution might be a thunderbolt raid.

Yes, I wanted it as a Nas. I will be using three different computers with my other friends. We edit together often on one project

Then the Ethernet connection on your iMac will be your limitation unless you go with something like a thunderbolt to NAS adapter to regain the transfer speed needed for multi-computer editing.

I am wondering if having an external SSD for project files and media files is good or if an HDD is fine? I have a 1TB external SSD USB 3.0 and an external 3TB HDD USB 3.0.

I film with AVCHD files so they are very small compared to RAW or 2 or 4K video files.
